Abstract Images.

Hello.

It has been months since I last put a post on, I'm sorry about that. Several issues and problems followed each other in the passed few months. There's no point me going over them, so on with this new blog post.

As always, I shall only add comments about any work here, if I think they may be of interest.

This post is a mixture of my abstract digital art, photos and two photos which I printed using a Gel plate. This is a new technique to me. I'm still trying to get to grips with it. Gel plate printing has unlimited creative potential.

The first image was inspired by me having looked at a lot of deep space images from NASA. I'm impressed by the size of the gas clouds out there. Many of them are busy making new suns and galaxies. This image is my artistic response to those star factories.

Star Birth 2.

The next two are taken from a set I made recently. I may show more from this set, in a later post.

Pop Art Machine Failure.

Shattering.

Driftwood.

Canalside Trees.

Music For The Sea.

Blue Phase.

Rusting Cliff.

Hot Jazz.

Hurricane X.

Pop Art Flag.

Fishing Net Drying.

This next one is unusual for me. It's in pastel colours, I normally prefer vivid, saturated ones. It was an experiment, to see what I could do with a muted colour pallet. I rather like the result.

Bell UFO.

I was siting quietly, when this caught my eye. I love shadows, they are one of my favourite sources of inspiration. The shadow(s) I use, may not always be obvious in an image but will be somewhere in the finished result. With the photo below, I liked the interplay of the shadows cast by the net curtain, with the other elements in the picture.

Summer Cottage Window.

Look up paracellular movement, or paracellular transport online, if you'd like an explanation of it. 😊

Paracellular Movement.

Abstract Daffodil.

The following two images are printed from my photographs using a Gel plate.

Passage at King Cross.
(Not the London King Cross!)

Common Ivy Flower Buds.

Norfolk Dreams.

Moorland Footpath.

Lalabar Red.

Computer Has a Nervous Breakdown.

Stone Circle Energy Fields.

In the Heat of the Day.

The last image is for all you Doctor Strange fans. I've been a fan of his since he was first published, in 1968 and I'm still a fan. I'm eagerly waiting for the new Doctor Strange film to be released.

The Eye of Agamotto.

We have reached the end of this post. I hope you enjoyed it. I promise that the next post will go online in a reasonable time.

Be kind to each other.
Gordon.

Oilbar Monoprints.

Hello World.

As usual, my latest post to this blog is a lot later than I hoped. Life sometimes throws things at you, stopping you having fun. Ah well, here is my first set of experiments in Oilbar monoprints. I shall be doing a lot more of them, now all the building work in our house has finished.

Over 50 years ago,  when I was at art school, they started me with oil paints. After a few weeks, I became dissatisfied with the long drying times involved with oils. It was suggested that I tried using acrylic paints. They dry a lot faster, almost immediately in fact. I loved them and used them for a long time, until other things such as playing music and holding down a, "proper job" got in the way. I gave up painting many years ago.

Last year, on YouTube, I discovered a growing number of art tutorials by the wonderful UK artist and sculptor, Dan Tirels. His videos inspired me to start painting again, using oil paint in a stick form. Actually, although it is painting, the technique is called Monoprinting. I started to work with Oilbars at the beginning of this year. There are eighteen monoprints of mine below.

On Dan's web page, he invites people who have been inspired by his tutorials to send examples of their work to him and he will put them in his web page gallery. I was very flattered that he took six of my pieces for display there.

Please take a look at Dan's videos on YouTube and visit his web page. Have a good look round and tell your friends about him. Click the URL link below to be taken to his page. There is also a link on the right-hand side of this blog.

I'm thinking of making 40 prints to bind in a book. They'll be varnished with matt varnish to protect them. Once I've designed the cover for it, I can begin assembling the project. Each image will have a sheet of tracing paper between it and the next one.

I'm not going to make any comments on the works below, they should be able to speak for themselves.

Curtains, lights, on with the show!

Everyday objects from unusual angles, using macro photography.

Hello.

This post is overdue. My wife had an operation on her foot about two weeks ago. She is not allowed to put any weight on it for about four weeks. She is more or less confined to the bedroom. I have been far too busy nursing her, giving her injections, taking meals to her and all the normal housework to do anything else. I'm trying to fit a little time for my blog in at the moment. (Just so that you know what the delay in my post has been).

Here in the part of Yorkshire I live in, we have more rain, high winds and fog, over the last few months, than I ever remember before. The resultant flooding has done a great deal of wide-spread damage. Because of the terrible weather, I have not been out with my cameras. As an exercise, one day I picked three objects in our house to photograph. My idea was to crate abstract images.

I shall put the images below without comments, other than the titles I gave them. For the first two articles, I'll show the abstract photos, finishing with a photograph of the whole object. It gives you chance to guess what they are. The last one should be obvious to most people.

Off we go then...

Interlocked

Geoslip

V for Victory

Print Run

Folding

Now to show you what the object is.

It is an Altered Book that one of Anne's friends
(Hi Linda) made for Anne's 60th. birthday.

The second object:

Another World

Air Horns

Roses

Holes in Space

 Starscape

 Vent

Inverse Tubes

Volcanoes

A photo of the whole object follows...

It is a small nutmeg grater.
It's about as long as your thumb.

Here is the final subject in this post...

It is, of course, a birds feather. As you can see, in close-up, it
provides a nice selection of abstract images,. I think they are worthy of enlarging for wall mounting, or exhibition.

I'd like to think that some of the readers of this blog may get inspiration from this post and go hunting for things in your home, shed or garden to photograph. Have fun.

Be nice to each other.

Gordon.
