British Birds

Hello dear readers.

For a change, I've found the time to put my next post up in a reasonable time. Hello to my Russian readers too, I notice that I've had several from Russia dropping in to view the blog.

Two weeks ago I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ72. I've had my Lumix FZ18 for seven years and although it is still working perfectly and looks as good as the day I bought it, I reaslised I needed to upgrade. The FZ72 has a 60x optical zoom and focuses down to 1 cm from the front of the lens,. in common with a lot of the other FZs. I fell in love with the new camera right away.

I thought I'd test the camera by taking it down to Cromwell Bottom Local Nature Reserve, where as some of you know I'm a volunteer for the Freshwater Environmental Ecology Trust (FEET), which is a green organisation. I sat in  the hide at the bird feeding station for about two hours and took the following photos. It seemed a good idea to post them here. I've already done a blog post of them for the FEET members site.

Hello, assuming I still have readers and most of you haven't given me up as a lost cause. Life has been getting in the way of doing fun things like blogging. I'll not bore you with details but go on with the blog.

I've decided to broaden the scope of this post, from what I said I'd be doing in the last post, if you follow me. I think I'm lost. So, I'll be showing some art shots, abstract photos and CGI stuff. I may not make many notes about these, unless I feel an image needs information with it. Here we go...

I think I'll change the emphasis here for a moment. I used to have a lady who modeled for me, until she and her husband moved abroad. I have quite a lot of shots of her, some very arty, with computer enhancement. I'll just put a few now.

Regular viewers may remember me stating that I was influenced by the sculptor Sir Anthony Caro. The photo below in an example of his influence. Can you work out what it is that I photographed. It's not one of Caro's works, it is an object in the front room of our house.

The next photo is of my friend Maura, an extremely talented, beautiful woman. She is performing a Huron Dance. I think it was a fire dance, but I'm sure she will tell me if I'm wrong. Take a bow dear lady.

The next image is of a partially built study. The man who was building it is an architect. He decided to place a tree in the exact centre of the building until he'd completed building it. I took the photo in colour at the time, it didn't look right. I spent a long time trying different things with the image, nothing worked. One day, I converted it to black and white, suddenly the image sprang to life.

Post Industrial Art (P.I.A).

Hello everybody

I really have to apologise for not posting sooner, even after saying I was going to post soon. Life has thrown a few things at me which have delayed my posting. I'm not going to bore you with them, but I will say that I dislocated my right kneecap about two months ago. It is by far the most painful thing I have experienced. It was worse than any of the broken bones I have had, and I've had quite a few of those. As my studio, where my graphics PC is installed is at the top of the house, two floors up that is, It stopped me posting to this blog for some time.

Other things have got in the way after I started to recover, but they are resolving and here I am. Thank you all for your patience. I was watching the page hits and saw some of my regular over-seas visitors dropping by. I hope you are all still with me and have not written this blog off. Thank you all for your support.

I'm going to inset one image here, as I know how boring it can be reading screens of text. After that, a few lines on my P.I.A. then the rest of the images will follow.

This is going to be the cover of my P.I.A. book, 

if/when I can be bothered or find the time to work on it.

Now on with the real reason you are here looking at this site. I mentioned in an earlier post that my Post Industrial Art (P.I.A.) takes several forms. One is simply wandering about with a camera looking for unusual, old, decaying properties, or even cracks in the pavement, or the sides of rubbish skips, where the damaged paint can produce some amazing images.

Another aspect of P.I.A opened up for me a few years ago. I'd gone round a disused, partially burned out plastic recycling works taking photos. I got some good shots and was pleased with the results. I emailed them to a friend of mine, (Hi Darren). He emailed back saying he liked them but they left him feeling depressed, as they reminded him of all the industry this country has lost over the last 20 years or so. He asked if I could possibly re-work the photos into a more cheerful, eye pleasing form. I spent some time doing just that, Then emailed them to Darren. He liked them, I was encouraged to produce more. So Darren is the guy to thank for pushing me into another direction.
